USP <797> context

USP General Chapter <797> describes minimum standards for preparing compounded sterile preparations. Airflow visualization may be used within a broader qualification and quality system to evaluate primary engineering controls, first air and operator impact.

Hazardous drugs

USP <800> context

USP General Chapter <800> addresses safe handling of hazardous drugs and includes facility and engineering-control requirements. Airflow visualization can help evaluate containment behavior, but the method must align with the facility’s certification and safety procedures.

Study the real work

Use representative equipment, materials, movements and interventions. Include the positions that may block first air or alter containment. A clean empty hood video is weak evidence when the risk occurs during compounding.
